Greetings BMB members, how quickly the year has flown by--like an arrow, one might say! We hope you've all had a happy Thanksgiving; in the spirit of the holiday, let us begin by thanking all of you for the wonderful year of archery we've had. In 2024, we welcomed a great number of new members, both to our club and into the sport of archery, we said goodbye to a few dear friends... Among the Mission Trail Bowhunter Association clubs, we finished a strong runner-up for Club of the Year; "Well done!" to all who participated! On the Board of Directors, we saw something of a "changing of the guard" with many new faces in the club leadership. As a club, we watched with pride as a number of our members competed on the national and international stage. Here's hoping the year ahead will bring just as many highlights!
In the meantime, here are a few updates for the month of December:
- Candidates have been announced for next year's Board of Directors; see our earlier post for details. BMB members can expect to receive a link to their BoD election ballots in a couple of weeks.
- December's range maintenance Work Party will take place next Saturday, December 7.
- The cooler weather and slightly lower activity level that the archery "off season" brings are a great opportunity for us to get caught up on maintaining the range, so please come and help if you can!
- We get started around 8 AM (late arrivals okay); meet up in the main parking area by the club sheds. Please bring work/gardening gloves if you have them. Both club members and non-members are encouraged to participate; we're truly grateful for all the help we can get!
- As a thank-you to our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
- All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
- Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site.
- The monthly Club Shoot happens on the following day, Sunday, December 8. The format will be a double 300: two rounds, each round with 10 ends of 3 arrows, shot at 20 yards (18m) on individual 40cm targets (60cm for cub archers). Please help us with planning and logistics by pre-registering online for the shoot.
- The CBH/SAA State indoor tournament will be held at Santa Cruz Archers on January 11-12; keep an eye on the CBH/SAA website for registration details.
- 2025 BMB membership renewals: we're going to work on making some improvements to the renewal/registration process, and expect the 2025 renewals to be ready in early January.
- In the meantime, anyone joining BMB this month will also receive membership for 2025.
No matter which of the winter holidays you celebrate, we hope it's a safe and happy one filled with the warmth of family and friends. Be well, everyone, and thank you again for a great year!
- The BMB Directors
