Greetings BMB members!
It's hard to believe February is past us and spring is almost here... time marches on, one might say. Here are your updates for this third month of 2025:
- One more reminder to 2024 members to renew your membership for 2025 if you haven't already done so! The club needs your support, so please consider re-upping if you shoot at BMB. We could also use your help to enlist new members, so please reach out to any archers at the range who aren't BMB members.
- Who's ready for 3D? BMB's 2025 Wednesday Night 3D League begins on March 19. We'll update the 3D League web page soon with all the details, but here are a couple of new changes for this year:
- New Senior age division.
- New Barebow and Traditional equipment classes.
- Jerseys! We've just about finalized the design and vendor details for BMB club jerseys. The plan is for a small initial run to validate the design, and then open up orders to all club members. Stay tuned for more details soon!
- Our March range maintenance Work Party happens this Saturday, March 1.
- Thanks to the efforts of everyone who showed up to February's Work Party, we've gained ground on maintaining the target bales; still, the rainy weather and normal wear and tear mean that a number of targets could use some TLC.
- Things get started around 8 AM (late arrivals okay); come find us in the main parking area by the equipment sheds. Please bring work/gardening gloves if you have them. Members and non-members are encouraged to participate; we appreciate any help we can get!
- To thank our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
- All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
- Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site.
- March's Club Shoot takes place on Sunday, March 9. The format is an NFAA 900 round: 5 ends of 6 arrows at 3 distances (60, 50, 40 yards for adults; closer for youth, cub shooters and traditional-style bows). (If you're new to these, check out the video from our friends at Pasadena Roving Archers.) Club shoots are a great way to get introduced to tournament-format archery, in a friendly low-stakes environment. Club shoots are free for current BMB members, $10 for guests. If you know or think you might attend, please consider pre-registering for the shoot to help us plan target assignments and other logistics.
- Entries are filling up for the California State Outdoor Championships which will be held June 27-29 at the Kirigin Cellars vineyard in Gilroy. If you're interested in competing, register as soon as you can over at USA Archery's website.
- Registration is also open for the 2025 Bay Area Senior Games archery tournament, happening on April 20 at BMB.
... And that's the news for March. Good luck to everyone competing at The Vegas Shoot next weekend; we look forward to seeing some familiar names in the standings.
See you at the range!
- The BMB Directors
