3D archery is an archery activity where the targets are three-dimensional foam animal-shaped targets, life-sized or otherwise. At our 3D events, we set up targets on various parts of our field course, allowing archers to test their skills shooting at different distances, elevations, and lighting situations. Hone your hunting skills or just have fun with friends and fellow archers!
The 3D league meets each Wednesday afternoon/evening. It is open to both BMB club members and the non-club members. We generally meet rain or shine! But, if things are really bad (thunderstorms, extreme heat, etc.), we'll announce it on our Facebook page and other channels and cancel or reschedule the event.
What's New for 2026
- New simplified equipment divisions: Compound Freestyle, Compound Limited, Olympic/Barebow Recurve, Traditional/Longbow.
- The required number of scores to earn a trophy is now 9 (out of 12 events total). (The final standings are still determined by competitors' top 10 scores.)
See below for more details.
2026 Schedule
The 2026 BMB Wednesday Night 3D League will start on March 18, 2026, and runs through June 3, 2026 (assuming no rescheduled events).
League Night times: archers may start shooting from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. These times change over the course of the league, as we get more sunlight and can/need to extend the hours. Come a little early to sign-in and warm-up, and once the course is open, start at Target #1.
The league is a 12 week league. To qualify for awards at the end of the league, you must have 9 submitted scores. If you submit more than 10 scores, the 10 highest scores will be used to determine your final total score. With the top 10 scores counting towards the final points standing, someone with only 9 scores may potentially be eligible for an award, but will be at a significant disadvantage if they are in a division with any level of competition.
Shooting & Scoring
We will be shooting 2 arrows per target. Both arrows count for score! Here's a write-up on how to score arrows.
Target distances can range from around 3 to 50 yards. We usually start the league out with closer distances and as the league weeks progress, we add a few more longer distances targets to the mix.
For some longer-distance targets, we will place an orange cone closer to the target. These are the shooting positions for the single-string (recurve/trad/longbow) and youth divisions. Adult/Senior compound archers must shoot from numbered stakes. Cub archers may shoot at a closer distance, at the discretion of their guardian or event officials.
League Fees
Fees are collected each week. We appreciate it if participants bring exact change. The fee structure is as follows:
- Adults (ages 16+), Senior (ages 60+): $10
- Youth (ages 12-15): $5
- Cub (ages 6-11): free
We are also offering a "Buy-in" options this year. You can prepay the entire league (all 12 weeks), for a discount. The "Buy-in" is as follows:
- Adult, Senior: $100
- Youth: $50
Buy-in discount for BMB members: current BMB members, present your membership card or other proof of membership at the Registration table to receive a one-time $10 cash rebate on your buy-in payment ($5 for youth).
PLEASE NOTE: All "Buy-in" purchases are final! We will not track your attendance and return money on weeks you did not attend. However, should we be forced to cancel any events that we can't reschedule, we will refund buy-in shooters $8 ($4 for youth) per canceled event short of the full 12 planned.
You can pay league fees online by going to our 3D League Fees page.

Age Divisions
We offer 4 simplified age divisions:
- Senior (ages 60+)
- Adult (ages 16+)
- Youth (ages 12-15)
- Cub (ages 6-11)
Senior and Youth archers may choose to compete in the Adult division.
Equipment Classes
Last year, we saw a smaller overall number of competitors, split into a large number of myriad classes, resulting in diminished competition. So for 2026, we're returning to the simplified equipment divisions of earlier years, with one additional single-string division:
- Compound Freestyle: compound bows with any equipment (for example, NFAA divisions Freestyle and Modern Bowhunter).
- Compound Limited: compound bows with non-movable pin(s) sight, without magnification. Barebow compound and finger-shot compound bows may also compete in this division. (For example, NFAA divisions Bowhunter Freestyle, Freestyle Limited, Barebow compound.)
- Olympic Recurve/Barebow Recurve: recurve bows with sights, stabilizers etc., and barebow recurve bows, as allowed under USA and World Archery rules.
- Traditional Recurve/Longbows: single-string bows without sights. String walking is not allowed. Thumb-drawn asiatic bows are allowed.
Ranged or Unmarked
Participants MUST choose which division they're participating in, Ranged or Unmarked.
- Ranged: participants may use a range-finding device to measure distance to the target.
- Unmarked: participants must guess the distance to the target. Rangefinding devices are not allowed.
Those participating in the "Ranged" division must keep their information private, if other archers in the group are shooting Unmarked.
Groups & Range Flow
In an effort to keep participant groups moving through the targets, we are keeping the group sizes limited to 6 participants. We also ask that archers shoot concurrently (that is, not 1 at a time). For example, if you're in a group with 4 archers, all 4 archers can shoot at the same time. A group of 6 archers could shoot with 3 archers and then the next 3 archers could shoot. It's all about keeping things moving, as efficiently as possible.
League Weekly Sign-Ups
Shooting groups will be allowed onto the course as soon as it is ready (no later than 4pm), and up until 6pm (or slightly later as daylight allows, at organizers' discretion). We encourage participants to organize shooting groups (of no more than 6 archers) ahead of time or at the event. Shoot with your buddies, or make new friends!
Awards
We will keep weekly totals and publish the information as quickly as possible. For awards, we require that there be at least 3 participants in a division/class to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. If there are not enough participants, we will re-group participants, at the league administrator's discretion! We will try to place archers in the nearest "like" group, if needed.
Volunteers
We need volunteers to operate the events; lack of staffing may result in event postponement or cancellation!
ALL VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE COMPLIMENTARY (FREE) ENTRY FEES FOR THE EVENT.
For each event, we need:
- 2 Set-Up volunteers to help set up the course: place 3D targets, stakes, etc.
- 2 Registration volunteers to check-in archers, handle payments, ensure waivers are signed. Registration volunteers will be given enough time off to shoot.
Registration opens shortly before 4 PM; find a BMB event official at the Registration table, in the "picnic area" between the parking lot and the Practice Range. - 1-2 Teardown volunteers who follow the last shooting group of the day, taking down targets, picking up stakes, and making sure everything is left tidy.
You can sign up for volunteer positions via the 3D League volunteer sign-up form. If you haven't signed up ahead of time and there are open volunteer opportunities, you can also just show up at the appointed time and location.
