Greetings, BMB members and friends!

It's hard to believe but summer is just about over. We hope everyone has had a great season of outdoor archery... We're blessed with a climate that allows outdoor shooting year-round, so don't let cooler temperatures and shorter days keep you away from the range, especially those of you gearing and tuning up for hunting season.

Thank you to everyone putting in some time and effort to improve things at the range! Seeing that they were falling apart, Dave Petty refurbished a couple of the equipment setup tables next to targets 8 and 9:

Separately, at the last Work Party, we discovered that some anonymous heroes had fully cleared the overgrowth on the Upper 14 field course trail. Even if you can't make it out to our monthly range maintenance Work Parties, there are still plenty of ways to help out, as we've always got things that need fixing or building. Please reach out to us if you'd like to help!

Thank you also to everyone who helped out at this past month's Santa Clara County Parks Taste of Archery event. Thanks to this outreach event, we've got some new shooters who've caught the archery bug!

Outdoor tournament season is winding down, but there's still plenty to do this month:

• Our next monthly range maintenance Work Party takes place this Saturday, September 5.
  • No experience needed; members and non-members alike are welcome!
  • Work starts around 8 AM (latecomers, come on out!); come find us in the clubhouse/picnic area by the main parking. If arriving late, just look around and any of the volunteers on site can point you in the right direction.
  • Dress as if for yard work, and bring work/gardening gloves if you have them.
  • As a thank-you to our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
  • All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
  • Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site.
• There's no Club Shoot this month, as the weekend will be preempted by the CBH State 900 tournament.
• Speaking of which, registration is still open for the CBH/SAA State 900 tournament, happening at various locations and on various dates, including at BMB on September 12-13.
  • Online registration for the BMB-hosted shoots can be found here (Saturday) and here (Sunday).
  • You can register for either day, or both (or more!) as long as you only shoot once per NFAA equipment class.
  • Find other venues and opportunities to participate over on the CBH website.
  • NFAA membership is required.
• BMB is hosting a Historical Archery Team Competition on Saturday, September 26.
  • This takes place 8:30 AM to 12 PM in the upper parking lot and at some Upper 14 targets and is limited to off-the-hand traditional-style bows (longbows, traditional asiatic bows, etc.). Check out the event flyer for more information.
  • The upper parking lot and Upper 14 field course will be closed for the duration of this event.
• Check out the Parks Assist app (available for Android and iPhone) for reporting and tracking park-related issues and maintenance.
  • Use it to report issues with "parks"-type facilities, such as trails, picnic tables, toilets, and other non-archery items such as fallen trees.

• Bowhunters Unlimited's 2026 Primitive Shoot takes place on Saturday, October 3. More details are coming soon; check the BHU events page to learn more.
• Santa Cruz Archers is hosting their annual Bad Boys of Branciforte 3D Shoot on Sunday, October 4. Check out the event flyer and if you're interested, preregister online to secure your spot.
• San Francisco Archers' annual Bug Shoot happens the following weekend on Sunday, October 11. Registration opens soon! Check the event website for more details.
