Hello, BMB'ers!
Fall is here and as the days grow cooler and shorter, we hope this little newsletter finds you well, whether you're gearing up and dialing in for indoor season, hunting season, or sticking with outdoor archery.
Thank you to everyone who shot the CBH 900 tournament with us on September 12-13! The weather was mild and things ran smoothly, and we hosted over 80 archers. Keep your eye on the CBH website for results to be posted; congratulations in advance to all the top finishers!
We also saw a sizeable contingent of BMB archers at past month's State Archers of California Pacific Coast Championship tournament. Congratulations to BMB shooters Joseph "Jo-jo" Rosal, Marianna Finkel, Sam Liu, Boyan Hung, and Ilina Upadhyaya for taking home top honors in their respective divisions, and well done to everyone who represented our club!
With (almost) all this year's big outdoor tournaments and shoots behind us, things are relatively quiet at the range. Here are a few items of note for this coming month:
- Our next monthly range maintenance Work Party takes place this Saturday, October 3.
- No experience needed; members and non-members alike are welcome!
- Work starts around 8 AM (latecomers, come on out!); come find us in the clubhouse/picnic area by the main parking. If arriving late, just look around and any of the volunteers on site can point you in the right direction.
- Dress as if for yard work, and bring work/gardening gloves if you have them.
- As a thank-you to our volunteers, we'll be serving lunch and refreshments when work activities wrap up.
- All parts of the range will be closed to shooting, and will reopen no earlier than 2 PM.
- Looking to log volunteer hours? Sign up via the Santa Clara County volunteering site.
- This month's Club Shoot will be held on Sunday, October 11. To help archers practice for upcoming indoor competitions, the format will be an indoor-style double 300 round:
- Archers will shoot two rounds, each round 10 ends of 3 arrows, at 20 yards (18m), on individual 40cm targets (60cm for cub archers), with a 15 minute break in between the rounds. Those shooting 40cm targets may choose between a 10-ring target and a 3-spot target. Archers will have 2 ends of practice prior to the official shoot. Target assignments will be posted the morning of the event at the range. Archers will be grouped by division according to NFAA rules.
- As usual, the shoot is free for current BMB members, $10 for guests.
- Walk-ons are welcome, though we do appreciate those who help us plan ahead by preregistering.
- Setup begins around 8am, and we aim to start shooting around 9am.
- Registration should be open soon for the MTBA Indoor 450 tournament, hosted at various locations around the Bay Area on weekends from November 7 to November 22.
- Watch the new MTBA website for registration details.
- Help BMB contend for this year's MTBA Club of the Year title by participating!
- A reminder that BMB jerseys can be ordered via the GNB website.
- Once enough orders have accumulated, the jerseys will go into production. (We will send out a call for orders when we get close!)
- Order now to get your jersey in time for upcoming indoor tournaments!
